Redesign and new website for Jeans Store

How to easily, efficiently and successfully move a functional e-shop to Shoptet? And how much can a redesign, new style and custom imagery affect your e-shop? Check it out, jWe have been struggling with the new website and e-shop environment, but also with a complete redesign of the Jeans Store brand.

Jeans Store is an authorized retailer of Pepe Jeans and has been on the market since 2012. For a long time they had their brick-and-mortar store in Prague's Galeria Harfa. Eventually, they decided to close it permanently and go online only.

However, closing the store and diving into the world of online sales only not only required a lot of determination and energy, but the move also necessitated a website redesign with a complete update of the brand's visual identity to adapt to the new goals and customer demands - purely in the online world.

Default E-SHOP status

Original website Jeans Store was already outdated, with an unflattering black background and not very intuitive navigation. User-friendly filters were also missing and the overall impression of the site did not match modern e-commerce standards. The visual identity was not consistent and a fresh new look was needed to reflect the brand's values and style.

CHALLENGES - BRAND AND WEB

Brand

  • Moving to a purely online world: The main challenge was to maintain the strong elements of the brick-and-mortar store and bring them to the online environment.
  • New identity - integration of the iconic chair: The key challenge was to incorporate the denim chair, a signature element from the store, into the new visual style.
  • Brand manual - consistent visual identity: We had to ensure that the new website and communication channels were unified and reflected current trends.

Web

  • Outdated design - The black background and overall visual style no longer matched current trends or customer needs.
  • Non-intuitive product filtering - Users struggled to find products quickly, which reduced efficiency and the shopping experience.
  • Poor responsiveness - The old website was not optimally adapted for mobile devices, which was a problem due to the ever-increasing number of mobile users.
  • Slow loading - The website had long page load times, which negatively affected not only the user experience but also SEO (search engine optimization).
  • Comprehensive catalogue and menu structure - The categories and subcategories were unclear and complicated, which did not exactly contribute to easy orientation.

SOLUTION

So we looked at it from both perspectives - design and web architecture. We did a comprehensive analysis (customer, brand elements, UX and site orientation, key elements and all other necessary aspects). We simply took a good look at the old website.

And we designed a solution that allowed us to keep the basics of a functional website and thanks to the branding and web redesign, we achieved both great functionality and an interesting and "fresh" brand image.

New image - new iconic photos

As part of the redesign, we shot a new series of professional image photos with a denim chair. We took the photos on a pier by the water or in a meadow, so that the photos would fit naturally with the new bright design of the website, but also give it an interesting contrast. We planted the distinctive element of the chair in a contrasting environment and incorporated these photos into the site's opening carousel and other elements, creating a harmonious feel along with a link to the chair, which we also used in the new logo. (This denim-covered chair wasn't just randomly chosen - they had several of them in the store and customers loved them, connected it to the brand and some even wanted to buy it.)

Brand

Redesign - We created bright, modern and clear elements for the website. This makes it easy to navigate and user-friendly. We used original photography tailored to the Jeans Store. Modern typography, responsive layouts and minimalist elements enhance clarity.

New logo - The logo was inspired by the iconic denim chair, which we brought online as a symbol that customers know and love.

Brand manual - We created a complete manual for working with brand elements - from the colour palette and logo use to the text tonality and customer communication style to ensure consistency across all marketing activities.

Web

Switching to the Shoptet platform allowed us to use modern tools and optimize the entire e-shop:

  • Customized filtering - We have implemented advanced filtering options, including dynamic filters based on available parameters, price ranges and stock availability. Users now see only relevant options, which greatly speeds up searches.
  • Improved menu and category structure - We have clearly reorganised the product catalogue with logically arranged subcategories and a main menu to facilitate customer orientation.
  • Speed optimization - The deployment of modern technologies such as lazy loading for images, caching of static content and compression of resources (CSS, JavaScript) has significantly accelerated page loading. The average load time has improved to under 1.5 seconds, which positively affects not only UX but also SEO.
  • Full responsiveness - The e-shop is now fully optimized for mobile devices. Features such as clickable banners, easy-to-use menus and quick filtering are designed specifically for touch screens.

We had a very short time for the whole event - everything went perfectly and we managed to get the new website including all the modifications even a few days before the deadline!
